Lead Design Engineer – Applications
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Automation Design Engineer with 8+ years of expertise in Special Purpose Machines (SPM) and industrial automation. The role requires strong capability in mechanism design, pneumatics, and component integration, along with proven experience in leading a team. The ideal candidate should be proficient in 3D design tools such as Creo or SolidWorks and capable of delivering end-to-end automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop SPMs and customized automation systems based on client and internal requirements.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings using Creo or SolidWorks.
• Conceptualize and design mechanisms (linkages, indexing systems, cam drives, pick-and-place systems, etc.).
• Select and integrate components including pneumatics, solenoids, actuators, sensors, and fixtures.
• Perform design calculations, tolerance stack-ups, and feasibility studies.
• Lead and manage a team of 4+ design engineers; assign tasks, mentor team members, and review designs.
• Coordinate with electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams for seamless project execution.
• Support machine assembly, debugging, trials, and commissioning activities.
• Identify and resolve design issues, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Prepare BOMs, technical documentation, and design reports.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and best engineering practices.
Qualifications
• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in SPM/Automation machine design.
• Strong hands-on experience in mechanism design and machine building.
• Proven experience in pneumatics and solenoid-based systems.
• Experience in leading and managing a team.
